Campaign 2012 begins on Radio

story by Inside Radio

It has been less than two months since the final radio commercial in the 2010 midterm elections aired and politicians are already turning their attention to 2010. The conservative group Crossroads GPS has placed a 400-thousand dollar radio buy targeting a dozen Democrats it believes are vulnerable when voters return to the ballot box in two years. Each won by slim margins last month -- some didn't know whether they'd won until days after the election.

The sixty-second spots are airing in Arizona, California, New York, Kentucky and Virginia. Each ties the incumbent to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. By some estimates Crossroads GPS spent about 40-million dollars on advertising during the just-finished election, and the new ad campaign suggests they have no plans to slow down.
