CLYBURN STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF CONGRESSMAN PAYNE

WASHINGTON, DC—Assistant Democratic Leader James E. Clyburn today released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Payne.

“It is with profound sadness and deep regret to learn of the passing of Congressman Donald M. Payne of New Jersey.  Don was a gentleman and a good friend.  He was a strong leader for New Jersey and our country and Congress’s leading expert on African affairs.  His impact will be felt for many years to come.  I want to express my sincerest condolences and my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.  He will be missed.”
