TV One Partners With NBC News For Election Coverage

African-American Targeted Network To Provide Coverage Of Political Conventions
TV One will partner with NBC News to provide extensive coverage of the 2012
presidential election to its African-American target audience, the network
announced Wednesday.
TV One and NBC News' coverage -branded under the TV One: One Vote
Matters banner -- will include four-hour broadcasts during the final night
of both the Aug. 27-30 Republican National Convention from Tampa Bay and the
Sept. 3-6 Democratic National Convention from Charlotte.
The first-time partnership will also feature live programming during the
night of the presidential election, including the victory speech of the newly
elected President, according to TV One president and CEO Wonya Lucas and NBC
News President Steve Capus.
TV One coverage will feature veteran political reporters from NBC News and
NBC's African-American targeted news website theGrio .
NBC News' Craig Melvin will anchor all three evenings of coverage from NBC's
Washington, D.C. studios, with TV One's Washington Watch host Roland
Martin rounding out the network's coverage.
"By partnering with NBC News, TV One is keeping to its mission of continuing
to raise the bar for the network by providing our viewers with programming that
is informative and has a direct impact on their lives as well as those of their
families," said Lucas in a statement.
Added Capus: "This collaboration with TV One enables us to directly serve the
Black community during this important election season- extending the reach of
our journalism while tapping into TV One's loyal viewership."
