Saluting our friend and hero Congressman John Lewis during Selma50‬. The depths of my love and respect for him and his courage is difficult to articulate.

This photo was taken after an early screening of SELMA, our small cinematic gesture of honor to Lewis and all the Freedom fighters, who moved us forward using their very bodies as their only weapons; their minds as the fuel; and Spirit as the compass.

(Congressman John Lewis and I at the DNC Convention 2012)

God bless them all - all the freedom fighters - past, present and future.

To watch Lewis introduce the President on the very bridge, 50 years ago where he was beaten, and bloodied - with a concussion, as a young man is Overwhelming!! Glory!
