National Gun Violence Awareness Day - Wear Orange -
We are #WearingOrange because OUR LIVES depend on it!
Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. NAN has partnered with the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Everytown for Gun Safety nationally. More than 200 organizations, cultural influencers and elected officials will participate by wearing orange.
This campaign was inspired by a group of Chicago teens that asked classmates to commemorate the life of their friend 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed one week after marching in President Obama’s second inaugural parade.
Hunters wear orange as a color of protection to prevent them from being shot. #WearingOrange is a way to visibly honor the 88 Americans lives cut short by gun violence every day and the countless survivors forever altered by shootings each year.
