NBA Legend Wes Unseld has passed. Unseld was 74.

Wes Unseld of the Baltimore and Washington Bullets has passed.

One of my childhood favorite players, the mild-mannered big man Wes Unseld passed this morning at age 74.

On the school yard basketball courts - with chains for nets - and in the gym, the Wes Unseld Screen was bolted out of B-Ballers mouths whenever someone would get knocked on their butts. Someone would say: "You got hit by a Wes Unseld Screen buddy!!!"

Wes Unseld was also known for his Full Court Kick-Out Passes to cherry-picking guards for an in-stride lay-up (ala Sonny Jergenson to Charley Taylor-like for a touchdown) right off the rebound - often times before landing his feet on the court.

Wes Unseld was one of just two players in NBA History to win both the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player Awards in 1968 - Wilt Chamberlain was the other.

In the 1970's, the Wes Unseld-led Baltimore Bullets (later Washington Bullets) appeared in Four NBA Championship Series (1971, 1975, "1978", and 1979) and the Washington Bullets Won the NBA Title in 1978.

After Unseld's playing days were over - Wes was known for always playing hurt, Mr. Wes Unseld became General Manager and Vice-President of the Washington Bullets (later Washington Wizards).

Of the Basketball court, for the past 40 years Wes and his wife Connie have owned and operated The Unselds' Private School for children Nursery School through Middle School. https://pressboxonline.com/2016/12/15/wes-unselds-unselds-school-is-a-family-business/

RIP Big Man! Wes Unseld born in 1946, making his transition today at age 74.
