August PPMs, Day 1: AC, Classic Hits And Urban AC Continue To Turn Up The Heat
Day 1 of Nielsen's August 2022 PPMs (measurement period from July 21-August 17) shows adult contemporary just about “Unstoppable” - to quote Sia's current hit on the format – leading in New York, Los Angeles and Houston, while tied for second in San Francisco and third in Atlanta. In Chicago, meanwhile, it's soft AC that ties for first.
Although classic hits claims just one winner in these eight non-embedded markets, that in Atlanta, it's the second choice in New York and L.A. and grabs a top-five berth in Dallas and Philadelphia. Urban AC may not have landed any ratings-toppers on Day 1, however, stations in the format finish second in Houston, Philly and Atlanta (the latter with a second urban AC ranked fourth), third in New York and fourth in Chicago.
For Day 1, the leaderboard shows three crowns for adult contemporary and one each for soft AC, classic hits, classic rock, rock, news/talk and Spanish regional Mexican.
