We Remember Jim Brown 1936-2023

Jim Brown Memory by Kirk Tanter. I met Mr. Brown at Heritage Los Angeles Radio Station KGFJ in 1992 that I then worked for. Brown had successfully brokered a peace agreement between two rival L.A. street gangs that very week. Brown was at KGFJ with the two gang member leaders for an interview with weekend talk show host Tavis Smiley. Jim Brown encouraged the gangs to begin greeting each other with both a "hand shake" and say "Black Man". The greeting was pervasive amonst all Black men throughout Los Angeles during the week of the L.A. Uprising weeks later. And that same greeting echoed throughout the World for years to come.
