ADVISORY FOR 1:45 PM EST: FEMA, USGS, NOAA TO HOLD PRESS CALL ON U.S. RESPONSE TO JAPAN EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI IN PACIFIC
Federal Officials, Scientists, Will Provide Updates on the Earthquake and the Resulting Tsunami Impacts on Japan and the U.S., and the Federal Efforts to Respond
WASHINGTON- Today at 1:45 pm eastern, officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will hold a press conference call to provide updates on the latest impact of the earthquake in Japan and resulting tsunami, and the U.S. government's actions to respond to the disaster.
FEMA is the lead agency for coordinating the federal response to domestic disasters, and providing support to state and local officials as they respond to this event. The U.S. Geological Survey can speak to the impacts of the earthquake, and NOAA can discuss the latest updates on the tsunami and watches and warnings.
