FCC plans radio-wireless summit

The Congressional Black Caucus first asked the FCC to begin investigating ways to get FM chips into mobile phones last February. 

Whether that Capitol Hill pressure had an impact on the decision isn’t known, but FCC chair Julius Genachowski has scheduled a July 20 meeting to bring together broadcasters and the wireless phone industry.
