The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) and Obama for America (OFA) have announced headline speakers for the 2012 Democratic National Convention. Speakers will give remarks on Tuesday, September 4 and Wednesday, September 5, at Time Warner Cable Arena and on Thursday, September 6, at Bank of America Stadium.

On Tuesday, September 4, the first night of the convention, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro will deliver the keynote address.  Castro will be the first Latino keynote speaker at a Democratic National Convention.  First Lady Michelle Obama will also speak on Tuesday and will offer unique insights into the President as a husband, father, and a leader over the last four years. Additionally, President Jimmy Carter will address the convention by video in primetime and will provide a unique insight into President Obama as a global leader.

On Wednesday, September 5, Elizabeth Warren will speak in primetime just before former President Bill Clinton delivers the nominating speech.  President Clinton’s nominating speech will not only set the stage for the acceptance speeches from Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama but also lay out the critical choice in this election between continuing to move forward toward a strong economy or going back to the same policies that lead to the economic crisis.

In holding both acceptance speeches Thursday, convention planners are returning to a long-standing convention tradition that was suspended in 1996 which slated both the Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees to speak on the final night of the convention.

In the coming days and weeks, the DNCC and OFA will be announcing additional programming decisions that will be meant to engage and energize Americans all across the country.

Below is a rundown of the announced speakers:

Tuesday, September 4
Convention Keynote Address: San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro
First Lady Michelle Obama
President Jimmy Carter

Wednesday, September 5
Elizabeth Warren
President Bill Clinton

Thursday, September 6
Vice President Joe Biden
President Barack Obama
