Talk Show Host Laura Ingraham signs with her former Syndication boss's company
Story by Inside Radio
“More laughter, fewer lectures” from Laura Ingraham.
Laura Ingraham’s “brief hiatus” from radio will end January 2 when the conservative political talker begins a new syndication and ad sales deal with Norm Pattiz's Courtside Entertainment Group. Ingraham is promising an expanded show experience and a heightened presence on new media platforms.
She also says her new program will incorporate more humor, something that many in the industry say the format desperately needs amidst concerns that nonstop national politics is causing listener fatigue.
“People need more laughter and fewer lectures; more fresh insights and fewer stale talking points,” she says, promising to “drive the national conversation with humor and inspiration for a nation that sorely needs it."
The deal marks Ingraham’s return to working with Pattiz, whose Westwood One network was the first to syndicate her show in 2001. Ingraham parted with her nine-year syndicator Talk Radio Network November 27.
Pattiz says the renewed partnership means more than just Ingraham’s return to the airwaves but also signals “a major move into the on-demand digital space." He and Ingraham say they will use platforms beyond broadcast radio to distribute new on-demand content created by Ingraham.
Courtside’s digital division Launchpad will stream the live three-hour show online, make it available as an on-demand podcast, and feature new original television and multi-media content from Ingraham.
Remaining based at Metro Radio’s “730 The Truth” WTNT, Washington, DC, Ingraham joins a growing stable of programs produced and financed by Pattiz, including “Bill O'Reilly's Talking Points,” “Loveline,” and “ The Dave Koz Show.”
Ingraham’s TRN show aired on more than 300 affiliates. Her change in syndicators is the latest in a series of changes on the national talk radio landscape, marked by hosts changing stations and syndicators, new entrants like Herman Cain and Mike Huckabee, and other upheaval.
