Trib exec resigns days after crass e-mail
story by Sun-Times
The Tribune Co. executive suspended this week for sending out an inappropriate, companywide e-mail resigned Friday. Chief Innovation Officer Lee Abrams (pictured left) offered his resignation and it was accepted, Tribune CEO Randy Michaels said.
Abrams' e-mail included a link to off-color videos, one of which Abrams labeled "Sluts" and showed a woman appearing to pour liquor on bare breasts.
Chicago Tribune Editor Gerould Kern complained to the company's human resources department about the memo, according to the newspaper.
Abrams -- a former radio executive known for long, stream-of-consciousness-style memos about reinventing the media business -- apologized Tuesday but was still indefinitely suspended without pay. His memo was issued just days after a New York Times front-page story portrayed the company's culture as sexist and vulgar.
